Sensitive Teeth

Your teeth expand and contract in reaction to changes in temperature. Hot and cold food and beverages can cause pain or irritation to people with sensitive teeth. Over time, tooth enamel can be worn down, gums may recede or teeth may develop microscopic cracks, exposing the interior of the tooth and irritating nerve endings.

Just breathing cold air can be painful for those with extremely sensitive teeth.

There are toothpastes that can be used to combat tooth sensitivity with some reported success.  The key to long term success is to continue with the plan of action recommended by your dentist.  If your dentist prescribes a remedy, continue with it even after you have achieved the desired results, unless you are instructed otherwise.

It is important to have your teeth examined by a dentist to determine the cause of your sensitive teeth.  The remedy will be dependent on the cause.
